We are looking forward to the adventure ahead of us! Please find details about the trip below. Please contact Melissa Urspruch, at email@example.com, with any questions.
Depart: Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 8:45 a.m. (please try to arrive at school by 8:30 a.m.) Return: Friday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. (regular pick up time between 3:45 and 4 p.m.—students/gear will be dirty/sandy)
We will travel in voyageur canoes led by “Big Muddy” Mike Clark. All paddling and safety gear is included. All meals will be provided, but students should also bring snacks. Cecilia has provided a packing list (also available online) that she created with input from Big Muddy Adventures and based on her experience from previous trips.
If Big Muddy Mike determines that conditions are favorable, students will have the option to paddle across the Chain of Rocks. The students paddled across the Chain of Rocks in 2016 and it was exciting, but it is also a more intense experience than just paddling down the river. Students who do not feel comfortable paddling across the Chain of Rocks will have the option to walk around that area. If you do not want your child(ren) paddling across the Chain of Rocks, please have that conversation with your child(ren) ahead of time.
All digital devices, including cell phones, will not be permitted on the trip. The MAP guides and Big Muddy Mike will have cell phones with them in case of an emergency. If there is a family emergency needing immediate attention, please contact Sara Krenski (firstname.lastname@example.org), as the MAP guides will not likely have their phones out while paddling. Photos of the adventure and a brief update will be shared daily via Facebook.
