A couple of things in advance of Leadership Day for Returning Students. Please read through the items below and address any that apply to you.
- Leadership Day will be scheduled a bit like our Aspire Test days were in the spring. We will alternate between fun activities and necessary brainstorming sessions and tasks. One thing we plan to do that afternoon is to visit a nearby coffee shop, so please be sure to bring cash if you would like to make a purchase ($5 should cover coffee or another beverage, but you can bring more if you choose).
- We are still missing a few library books. If you have a book at home from MAP's library, please bring it with you on Leadership Day so it can be restocked in the library before school starts. Some titles I know to be missing include The Adventures/Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King.
- Please bring your school supplies in on Leadership Day so that you won't have to haul them in on the first day of school. Last year's flimsy Ikea lockers are being replaced with legit, full-sized metal lockers—yay! The lockers should be similar to this (click on the picture in the link for interior images), with one shelf close to the top, and one or more hooks just below the shelf. You will have some time on Leadership Day to organize your locker, and you are welcome to bring in any non-permanent organizers and adornments (everything you stick to your locker must be easily removable, so no stickers, duct tape, etc. Magnets, scotch tape, and washi tape are fine). Because the lockers are large, you will store outerwear, work boots, etc. in your locker along with your other school items, so you will want to be creative with your organization so that everything fits and is easily accessible.
As always, let one of the Melissas know if you have any questions about Leadership Day or anything else. See you soon! :)
